Before you book

Flights, visas, health and kids clubs, settled

Five things decide whether a family beach week actually works. Here is how each one looks for households flying out of Ukraine.

  1. Flights from Kyiv

There is no direct scheduled service from Boryspil while the airspace stays closed. Most families in our plans depart from Chisinau, Warsaw, Bucharest or Istanbul. Count the whole door to resort journey, not the flight alone: 7 to 11 hours each way is normal.

Timings are indicative. Confirm them with your operator before paying a deposit.
  2. Visa for Turkey and Egypt

Ukrainian passports enter Turkey visa free for tourist stays up to 90 days. Egypt issues a tourist visa on arrival at the resort airports. Both rules can change, so check the embassy page in the week before departure.

Keep the passport valid at least six months beyond your arrival date.
  3. Health and drinking water

Tap water is not drinking water in either country. Use sealed bottles for children and for brushing teeth. Ask your doctor about hepatitis A and typhoid jabs roughly a month ahead, and carry a policy that covers hospital care abroad.

  4. Kids club quality

Brochure photos tell you very little. Ask how the club groups children by age, how many staff cover each group, whether there is air conditioned indoor space for the hottest hours, and who supervises the pool.

Roughly one adult to six children suits ages 4 to 8 in our experience.
  5. Sea and pool safety

A red flag means no swimming, without exception. Most resort beaches shelve gently, but afternoon wind builds chop quickly. Keep children under six within arm's reach in the water at all times.

Comparison

Turkey or Egypt: the same week, two very different logistics

Sort by what actually decides the trip: door-to-resort time from Ukraine, entry paperwork, shade at midday, and how children get into the sea. Budget bands are indicative only; prices and availability can change and terms apply.

Indicative comparison for a 7-night family beach week, two adults and two children
Planning factor Turkey Egypt
Door-to-resort time About 7 to 9 hours via Chisinau or Bucharest, plus a 60 to 90 minute transfer to Side or Belek. About 6 to 8 hours via Istanbul or Warsaw, plus a 20 to 45 minute transfer in Hurghada.
Entry paperwork Passport valid 150 days or more; e-visa or visa on arrival for Ukrainian passports. Passport valid 6 months; visa on arrival or e-visa, plus a landing card per family.
Midday shade Pine and palm gardens on the Aegean; pool shade is easy to find before 11:00. Shade comes from awnings and umbrellas; check beach orientation at your resort.
Sea entry for small children Sheltered bays in Side and Kemer stay shallow for metres, with few waves. A reef shelf means a short walk over coral; water shoes help from age 5.
Water parks on site Common in Belek and Antalya; toddler splash zones are standard. Concentrated in Hurghada and Sharm; fewer toddler-specific pools.
Kids club: what to ask How ages are grouped, indoor space for hot afternoons, and water supervision ratios. The same, plus whether sessions run through the whole afternoon.
Walking intensity Hilly resorts in Kemer and Bodrum; expect 300 to 900 m from room to beach. Flatter layouts in Hurghada; typically 200 to 600 m, easier with a stroller.
Best months May, June, September and early October. July and August need strict shade planning. March to May and October to November. July and August are very hot and humid.
Indicative budget band Mid to premium for all-inclusive in Belek or Side during school holidays. Value to mid for all-inclusive in Hurghada; sea-view upgrades cost more.

Filter each option by your children's ages before booking. The week builder applies those ages to real day plans, and the full region comparison covers resort areas one by one.

Parent notes

What families with kids actually noticed

Four notes from parents who travelled to Turkey and Egypt in 2025. Each one lists the child's age, the resort area and the month, so you can judge whether it matches your own week.

"The club split our 5 and 7 year old into separate groups, so the older one got the pool games while the younger stayed in shade at the craft table."

Ages 5 and 7 / Alanya, Turkey / late June Detail: club ran 10:00 to 12:30 and 15:00 to 17:30, with registration at breakfast.

"Shallow entry was the reason we picked Hurghada. Our 4 year old walked in on her own while we watched from the first row of loungers."

Age 4 / Hurghada, Egypt / early October Detail: sea was warm at 8:30, wind picked up after lunch, so mornings became the swim slot.
Parent and two children walking a shaded resort path toward a shallow beach entry in late afternoon
Shade path to the shallow entry, mid-afternoon, Belek.

"August in Belek was hot enough that we moved everything before 10 and after 16. The indoor club room saved the middle of the day."

Age 9 / Belek, Turkey / mid August Detail: air-conditioned club room and a shaded pool side made the 12:00 to 15:00 block workable.

These are individual experiences from one family each, not guarantees. Kids club hours, water depth and availability can change, and terms apply. Compare Turkey and Egypt side by side.
